International Summerfest and the Black Arts Festival August 11, 2012

The International SummerFest is one of Battle Creek's oldest festivals, and was created by the Battle Creek Area International Relations Committee to promote cultural and ethnic exchange for the enrichment of the Battle Creek community.

The International SummerFest is an excellent opportunity for the community to enjoy wonderful international food and entertainment. It is also a great chance to broaden awareness of other cultures and history that are present in the Battle Creek community.

In recent years the International SummerFest and the Black Arts Festival of the Urban League's Young Professionals have partnered to bring to the community and its visitors an even greater Festival with food, entertainment, children's activities, vendors and art exhibits.

JOIN WITH US AT THE INTERNATIONAL SUMMERFEST AND BLACK ARTS FESTIVAL ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 11, 2012, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm IN McCAMLY PARK TO ENJOY THE FLAVOR OF INTERNATIONAL FOODS, ENTERTAINMENT AND CULTURE.

SPECIAL GUEST APPEARANCE
KIM AND REGGIE HARRIS

Kim and Reggie Harris

The International SummerFest and Black Arts Festival are thrilled to have engaged Kim and Reggie Harris to perform in two concerts. First will be during the Event at McCamly Park at 2:00 p.m., and a second open-air concert at the Underground Railroad Sculpture on the W. K. Kellogg Foundation property at 7:00 p.m.

Kim and Reggie highlight one of the most fascinating chapters of American history with songs, stories, audience involvement and an award winning multi-media presentation. The inspiriting triumph won by a network of slaves and committed citizens from all walks of life unfolds in this performance of the Underground Railroad Story.

The stories of people such as Harriet Tubman and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., are well chronicled in the story of African-Americans who helped to build this Country. Educators, artists, scientists, poets, inventors and other key contributors who are not as well know are brought to life in this interactive and engaging presentation.
